The Westin Portland Harborview

The hotel is very nice and clean, the rooms are spacious and beautiful. The only downside was the view from the room, which was very sad, as it overlooked a black roof that blocked the view of the city. Otherwise, it was fine.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with this hotel. The woman at the front desk last night was picking her ear with a q-tip. She continued to do so while I was speaking with her. In the middle of my sentence, she pulled the q-tip out of her ear, looked at it and the shoved it back in. She continued this task through out our conversation. Meanwhile, two of her coworkers were standing beside her without saying a word. I guess this is the way things are here.

Very disappointing experience. I had a confirmed reservation, called the hotel around 4:30 PM to let them know I’d arrive around 10 PM, and was never told there was an issue or that the hotel was oversold. When I arrived, I was turned away and sent to a hotel outside Portland. My advice: go somewhere else.

Stayed here for 3 nights for a Portland Downtown trip. The rooms where nice, cant really complain there. The parking and service was not. It costs $47 PER night to park, which was not communicated at all during our stay. While I did see the sign on the valet desk it just stated $47, no one at the check in or desk told us otherwise. The top of the east looked good but it was closed two of the nights I was staying there for a "private event" disappointing. Our room keys also stopped working during the second day due to maintenance. Also its pretty far from everything and not very walkable.

................it's not a 4 star hotel, it's a motel. It's a 500 dollars per night hotel, but rooms are super low level. I will not come back.

Jeopardy question - the city where the worst Westin hotel exists. What is Portland Maine. Not enough can be said about the shitty condition of the hotel. We got a 10th floor room on the tower side, which is an extension from the original structure above the conference rooms, with floor to ceiling windows. Problem emerged one after another - the hotel that started the "heavenly bed" tagline blanketed the bed with the most lumpy duvet (see pic). So lumpy that you would think someone is hiding under. All the four pillows were just as lumpy. One cannot be faulted for thinking the tower side is newer and in better condition. One will be proven wrong. The floor under the carpet was denting and part of the floor was deeply caved in. The worst part was the shower. It took 15 minutes to warm up, that is longer than the AOL dial-up internet time. You had your coffee and you are still waiting for the water to warm up. I called down to reception, clearly this is a known issue as the woman told me to turn the sink faucet on at the same time to speed up the warming process. "it takes 10-15 minutes". If so, put a sign out there so we plan accordingly. Breakfast was a joke, the restaurant floor was sticky enough that all types of shoes would make their unique noise. And the part of congress street the hotel is located, it is pretty gritty. In the evening when there is still the last big of light, walking from old port to the hotel you will have to walk by with a heightened sense of alert, as well as disbelief. All in, Westin in Portland brings a sense of indignity that is so intense that you keep asking yourself what you have done wrong to end up here.

While its a old historic building, the hotel and rooms are in a need of an upgrade. The staff at the check in desk were certainly not knowledgeable or empowered and unable to answer straight forward questions. The location is a good 20 min walk to the downtown / restaurant area (and the walk back is all uphill)

There is no other word for this hotel except sad. Rooms are tired, dated and worn. Mystery stains in the hallway carpet and on the walls in the rooms, although the room itself was relatively clean. Hot water heater appears to have severe issues as it took literally 10 minutes for the water to warm up to barely lukewarm every time we took a shower. Front desk staff was pleasant although the valet staff watched us two women struggle in with multiple bags up stairs without offering to help which was super frustrating. Lobby looks like it was last decorated in 2003- furniture looked saggy and worn. Location is convenient. Not worth the price being charged and definitely not a 4 star hotel- would not stay again.

I am currently staying here and I am hugely disappointed. Westin has always been a name I could rely on when traveling away from home, and given the price for this weekend, I am shocked this location is advertised as a 4-star hotel. The rooms are dated beyond belief. So dated you can almost hear the wallpaper screaming for help. There are scratches on the walls and distressed markings all over the furniture. The wear and tear is impossible to miss. Most concerning was walking into the room to find the toilet unflushed, with loose hairs scattered across the bathroom floor. With status meaning less and less every year, I had requested an upgrade ahead of my arrival as a Gold member. I was told I had already been "upgraded to a city view." For a hotel with Harborview in its name, I find it perplexing that my upgrade is a view of a random street intersection with no city life in sight at all.

Standard Westin, friendly check-in staff but could use a deep cleaning and advanced attention to detail. Vents in the room were very dusty, lamp shades had a few noticeable stains. Clean bathroom, linens. The hotel is in an older building and could hear upstairs neighbors and kids above us for a bit.
