Portland Pride

Portland Pride goes back to a 1975 Gay Pride Fair near the South Park Blocks, and Pride Northwest, the nonprofit that runs it now, was founded in 1994. Since 2023 it has been held in July rather than June. Organisers said the Waterfront Park date in June kept clashing with Juneteenth and the Delta Park Powwow, and no other site in the city is big enough.

How it works: a two-day Waterfront Festival at Tom McCall Waterfront Park, with a $10 suggested donation and nobody turned away, plus a Sunday parade at 11:00 that leaves the North Park Blocks, winds through downtown and ends at the festival. The Oregonian estimated 45,000 people at the 2019 parade, the last solid figure we found. Mid-July in Portland is usually dry and can get hot, and the riverfront has little shade.

The 2026 edition ran 18 and 19 July under the theme Made with Pride, with drag performers DeJa Skye and Tenderoni among those announced. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked.
