Good spot. Nice price. Friendly folks.
A beautiful location right on the water with different room and cottage options. Sounds like a dream come true. Unfortunately that was not my experience due to the owners/managers complete disregard. I’ll start by saying I’m a local Cape small business owner who loves supporting and divesting money locally. As a young, spry individual I’m good on my feet and lo and behold the minute I get to the property. I trip on a rock hidden under a rug. Sounds random but if you know the setup of the place rugs/runners are placed around the property grounds. I instantly had a massive ball on the top of my foot and had to sit down because I couldn’t walk. There were construction workers there but no management. In all honesty, I was in so much pain I couldn’t get words out so we went to our self check in room and I laid down. Long story short is I emailed and called the given contact info and I’m absolutely appalled at the lack of response. They called and left one voicemail that I missed because Ptown is notorious for spots of drop calls especially on the beaches. I called back, emailed several times making it clear I was not interested in playing a blame game or litigation and GENUINELY concerned for the major hidden booby trap! I sent them videos and pictures of said are. Still nothing. I’m still injured and now going to PT for sprains that won’t heal in my foot!!! From last summer when I visited the Masthead. I work in fitness for a living and this has been HELL. I will never give Masthead another cent. While this place is beautiful, please please rethink their lack of genuine care for paying guests. The experience and complete disregard has taken its toll and others need to know the Masthead doesn’t give a $$ about anything but your money
Perfect location on the beach. Lovely clean comfy rooms. Friendly, helpful staff
Our cabin was adorable, great view of water, all renovated
This was our first time in Cape Cod and the weather was terrible. We were there for a wedding. I think the view would’ve probably been wonderful from our cottage. The cottage had everything we needed, just very old and could use some updating. We ate some delicious clam chowder on our way to the cottage at The Local Tavern and Grille in Sandwich, MA.
I stayed at Richards Cottage 35 at Masthead resort as part of a party of 5. The cottage is nice. Everything was clean and tidy. There's a kitchen, living room, breakfast/eating nook, and full bathroom on the first floor. 3 bedrooms and bathroom on the second floor. Let's start in the kitchen. It's a galley kitchen with room for maybe 2 people tops. Countertop, sink, faucet, and appliances all seemed on the new side. There is a microwave. It would be helpful if the drawers had pull handles as they were a bit hard to open. There were pots and pans, some oven safe pans (roasting pan). I called and asked if there was a cookie sheet before our trip and was told there was. There was not. We made due with the roasting pan. There was a cutting board. Knives could use sharpening. Couldn't find any scissors. There were only 4 forks. We had to use one of the larger serving forks. No paper towel, foil, or plastic wrap. 2 kitchen towels were provided. Ice tray, filled, was in the freezer (no ice maker). Drip style coffee maker with some packets of coffee provided. The living room contains a couch that can fit 3 comfortably and 4 chairs. 1 chair was very uncomfortable and no one in our group wanted to sit in it. Not sure whether the fireplace works. It was full of cobwebs and there was no wood or instructions. It would have been really nice and cozy to use as we stayed in January. There is a TV, and it needs 2 remotes to use. No info provided about WiFi access. The full bathroom with a shower is basically in the living room. There were plenty of towels for our group between both bathrooms. I only used the soap since I forgot my own and it was quite drying but, its hotel soap. The shower itself is on the small side. If you're overweight, you might find it cramped. Only 1 small shelf to put your things and good luck shaving your legs in there. The eating nook has a rectangular table and 2 benches and can probably fit 8 adults comfortably. The stairs to go up to the second floor or extremely shallow and steep. If you have and sort of mobility issues, you might have a difficult time with them. There are a few stairs we're there's no railing to hold on to. I wear a size 10 slipper (8.5 in mens) and half of my foot hangs off the step. The upstairs bathroom had a new sink, a tub, and a toilet. The tub had what looked like a hookup for a hand held shower wand, which would have been really nice as to not have to go use the shower downstairs. There was no hand towels or air freshener in either bathroom. A hair dryer was available in the cabinet under the sink. My friend and I stayed in the bedroom with 2 twin beds. There are 3 outlets in the room but there are 2 lamps plugged in. No alarm clock in this room. 1 chest of drawers and a small closet. There is also a mirror over the dresser. The door to the room cannot be closed. I don't know is the doorway warped over time or there was too much paint on the door, or both. If you close the door, not sure you'd be able to get it open again. Light floods in from under the door and the side since it can't be closed. There is a shade on the skylight and the small window. There was only 1 nightstand. The bed and pillows were comfortable. I can't speak to either of the other 2 bedrooms. There's a private area of beach just beyond the small yard. It snowed during our stay, maybe about an inch or so. No one cleared our path or put out salt/sand so it was a bit slippery as we were trying to bring our things out to the car.
