About this place Temple Bar

Temple Bar is a long-standing gay bar located in Royal Oak, Michigan, that has been serving the local LGBTQ+ community and allies for more than 25 years. As a dive bar, it offers a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere where you can expect genuine hospitality and a down-to-earth vibe. The venue is known for keeping things fun and affordable, making it an accessible spot for a night out. You'll find the usual offerings of a neighborhood gay bar: cheap drinks to keep your wallet happy, karaoke for those who want to sing, and a dance floor if you're in the mood to move. The focus here is on creating a welcoming space where LGBTQ+ visitors and supporters can come together without pretense. Whether you're a local or passing through the Detroit area, this is the kind of spot where you can relax, have a good time, and connect with the community. Royal Oak is part of the greater Detroit metro area, which has several LGBTQ+ organizations and resources worth knowing about, including the Ruth Ellis Center and Affirmations, both of which provide important services and support. Temple Bar fits into a broader landscape of LGBTQ+ nightlife and community spaces in the region—the kind of venue that thrives on a diverse crowd and genuine connections. Stop by and see why it's remained a local favorite for over two decades.

Nothing bad to say nothing good. It's a bar without food unless you count chips and pretzels. People were nice place was nice and it did have pool tables. Great spot to go before lca since nobody who goes to lca seems to know that it won't be busy dispite how close it is. I guess that's why it's temple bar more for the masonic events I'm told.

Great local dive bar

Drinks were overpriced and watered down. The fruit had to be left out for more than 12 hrs. The limes were stiff. The music was very childish. The only good thing is there was not a lot of people.
