About the event

Launched in 2008, Bear Night is San Diego’s premier dance event for Bears, admires, and their friends. Bear Night is every first Saturday, and during San Diego Pride, Bear Night presents two outstanding events, SubWOOFer kicking off Pride for eight years at EQ San Diego and the infamous FURRAGEOUS® celebrating 13 years at Music Box. Bear Night is a testament to the unity, diversity, and vibrant spirit of the bear community and its admirers. It continues to be a beloved fixture in San Diego’s nightlife, celebrating these values and earning the distinction of being the longest-running bear event—and gay dance event—in the city.

GaymPlan's Honest Take:

Bear Night truly is one of San Diego's quintessential parties. Every first Saturday of the month it seems a sizable portion of gay San Diego makes the pilgrimage to EQ to socialize, dance and meet future friends and more. Nearly always packed you'll find a plethora of bears, daddies, jocks and just about everything in between. But what you won't typically find is attitude. The vibe is friendly and sexy at the same time. The party really starts to heat up around 10pm and so does the dance floor. If you're looking to dance we recommend wearing less since the dance floor gets a bit warm but not uncomfortably so. Great DJs, friendly and fast bartenders, and sexy gogo dancers all night long make this party one of our favorites. Smoking is allowed outside. A water station with cups is provided for thirsty dancers. Standing urinals are brought in to relive traffic to the three small bathrooms next to the dance floor. One bar outside with two bartenders. Another inside with 2-3 bartenders. Bring ID.
