We’re kicking things off here at Urban MO’s before heading to the Back Lot for a pre-show kickoff with special guests Fantasia Royale Gaga & Candis Cayne, followed by the sidewalk march, rally, speakers, and performances.

The annual Drag March for Trans Rights will return to Hillcrest on Sunday, September 20, 2026, bringing together drag artists, advocates, allies, and community members in a celebration of visibility, resilience, and transgender rights.

Drag has always been more than entertainment—it has been a powerful form of self-expression, community building, and resistance. Events like Drag March continue that tradition by creating space for trans voices, visibility, and joy.
A coalition of community members is again organizing a march in support of the trans community at a time when the federal government is carrying out unprecedented attacks on trans and nonbinary people. The San Diego Drag March For Trans Rights is scheduled for Sunday, September 20th, in Hillcrest and will include a sign-making party, rally, and performances.

The event was first spearheaded by local drag entertainers in June 2023 to show support for the trans and non-binary community, who continue to be under attack across the country, and is being organized again this year in the midst of legislation targeted at the trans and nonbinary communities across all levels of government. This year’s event will have a particular focus on ensuring the visibility of the community and providing resources for people to get involved.

“Our trans siblings have always stood with and been a part of our struggle for greater LGBT acceptance and equal rights,” said Sister Iona Dubble-Wyde, member of the Drag March for Trans Rights planning committee. “It’s important that we stand with them and for them when their very existence is under attack by this administration.”

According to Trans Legislation Tracker, in the first five months of 2025 alone, 100 anti-trans bills have already passed out of the 895 proposed across the country. This legislation seeks to block trans people from receiving basic healthcare, education, legal recognition, and the right to publicly exist. Organizers in San Diego plan to use the march and rally to speak out against this hateful legislation while making sure the trans and non-binary communities know that they are loved, seen, and valued.
