Thorough, fast. What has taken Kinwell over 3 months to accomplish with my insurance Joshua accomplished in less than 24 hours. They took time with me, provided me options I didn’t know I had as a trans person, and answers to issues that other doctors (3 prior) did not know or have an answer for. I’m so glad Im able to come here.

I followed my PCP Joshua Lumsden here from his previous clinic because he is the first provider to actually listen to my concerns. He was able to diagnose & effectively treat issues I had been dealing with forever. My quality of life has dramatically improved thanks to his care. Also, as a queer person I appreciate his service to our community.

I’ve been working with Josh for years with a few complex issues and have never felt more taken care by a pcp. Highly recommend him for gender affirming care or just a pcp that will take the time and research to genuinely help with complex issues. Thank you josh🙏🏻

I'm frustrated to write this review, but I feel compelled to share my experience. I've been coming to this center since 2017 and have always appreciated the care I received from my previous physicians. However, with the arrival of the new physicians at the beginning of this year, I've noticed a significant decline in professionalism and patient care. During my last appointment with Thomas Thomson, I felt incredibly uncomfortable. As a Black man, it's disheartening to walk into a healthcare setting seeking support and instead feel like just another number. The interaction felt transactional, with minimal engagement or concern for my well-being. I was left with the impression that he was more focused on getting me in and out than on providing genuine care. When I requested a prescription refill, he seemed unsure and dismissive, despite it being filled for me in the past. His response to questions about a new prescription was equally unhelpful, as he simply referred me to another pharmacy without exploring any options. It’s frustrating when not all patients have the same insurance, and I had already confirmed that my plan wouldn't pose an issue. I sincerely miss Troy, who truly cared about his patients. The other long-time staff members still provide excellent care, but the two new physicians lack the understanding and sensitivity needed to effectively engage with patients of color. They seem more focused on prescriptions and profits than on patient care. I cannot recommend Joshua or Thomas based on my experiences. I hope the center can address these concerns and return to the standard of care that once made it a trusted place for many of us.

Gender-affirming care? Yeah right. Hands down the worst care I have ever received from a doctor. I had a complex gender-affirming surgery that resulted in two complications, both very slow to heal wounds and a MRSA infection. I wasn't getting adequate follow-up care with my surgery team, so I reached out to my PCP at Cap Hill Medical for a referral to a wound healing center. My PCP blocked every effort I made to get this referral. First he said that insurance wouldn't cover a second opinion. Then, when I called insurance and verified that it would be covered, he continued to ignore my request for a referral, reiterating that I should seek advice from my surgery team and "ask to speak to the surgeon." I wouldn't have been asking for a second opinion if my surgery team had provided decent care. My surgeon was utterly unavailable, literally never even in the same building. After two weeks of back and forth, I finally gave up and went to a Zoomcare, where they provided the referral and honestly seemed dismayed that my wounds had gone so long untreated. Additionally, I needed regular labs done for my hormone levels and had done so every six months through Cap Hill medical. In January, as a fun surprise, my PCP added vitamin D testing to my panel without asking my consent, resulting in a $306 uncovered charge. He never apologized. I am still going back and forth with insurance and Labcorp to resolve it, 11 months later. I prefer to give feedback directly rather than just posting reviews. I shared all of this feedback with my PCP, but never received an apology, or even a response. My wife was loyal to Cap Hill Medical for years and has always spoken highly of Dr. Rongisch. All I can say is that her practice has gone WAY downhill and she should pay closer attention to the staff she's hiring.

I’ve been a patient for over a decade, and I couldn’t be more content for how I have been treated as a patient. From Donita and Jacob always having outstanding customer service skills! To Dr. Chu, you truly are wonderful! Thank you for always being there for me. 👍😊
