Avalon Hotel St. Petersburg / Downtown

When we arrived we were greeted by Natalie, who was fantastic. Our room wasn't booked properly due to hotel points, and both Natalie and Aaron went above and beyond to accommodate us and made sure our needs were met. Nicest staff I've ever encountered and definitely recommend staying here! Went next door to the Hollander and had dinner, the happy hour prices were insanely good, and the food was amazing. Highly recommend eating there as well!

Pool bar has amazing staff

...narrow soundproofing, as in many hotels. Since it wasn't very large, it was fine for us. Very good mattresses, very good bed linen, and everything spotlessly clean. Excellent value for money. The service, with complimentary water and free wine from 5 to 7 am before heading out to the nightclub, was outstanding. The food at the neighboring Dutch hotel was very good and, most importantly, not overpriced. The bar was also very pleasant. The pool and its clientele are a matter of taste. We would gladly return.

Terrific boutique hotel in the perfect location in downtown St. Pete. The (free) Looper trolley stop is just across the street, so you don't need your car at all. The staff was wonderful, helpful and cheerful. The large front porch is delightful to relax on after a day of city adventures before heading out for dinner. The Hollander (next door) has a great breakfast. Room was super-clean, quiet, and quite comfortable. Bathroom was small but functional. We would absolutely recommend staying here!

Location is super convenient to bars, shops and restaurants. The rooms do not have smart tvs but that was an easy fix by having a fire stick delivered. But the staff, especially Ethan (Etta), made my birthday trip amazing! He was so friendly and knowledgeable about the area which in turn lead to wonderful food and things to do. This was my first time to the area let alone this hotel but will most definitely be back!!

They put the customer in customer service. Hotel is old but rooms updated. Pet friendly room available. Would be 5* on rooms, but there was some noise from people above stomping around. Would recommend and stay again

10/10 would stay here again. So much character and fun atmosphere while being clean with lots of little perks. We utilized the free water bottles at the front desk, the pool, and the bar next door. Next time will take the free shuttle.

The good part: the location is good, 10 minutes walking to the pier, 10 minutes to Central Avenue. The bathroom is clean. The bed is nice and clean The coffee in the morning is free, the cookies are good. The bad part. 1. There are no electrical outlets in the room at all except for a power strip (see picture) next to the bed. That is totally unacceptable. 2. Worse, when I asked the woman at the front desk, she responded (in a very condescending tone) "we are a boutique hotel" as if people who travel to boutique hotels don't have phones, tablets, computers and smart watches. 3. She installed a regular extension chord from the strip itself... but housekeeping took it away. 4. The A/C doesn't work at all. Very feeble. 5. The ONLY lights in the room come from a surgical white ceiling fan and 2 feeble lamps next to the bed. 6. The rooms are tiny, which we knew, but way too tiny. You can't move. 7. The closet is pitch black, not even a light and has a total of 4 hangers. 8. The bathroom is tiny, and on top of that, really badly designed. There is a shelf over the sink, which is like 18 inches wide, tiny, which prevents you from even brushing your teeth comfortably. 9. There are no towel racks or even hooks to hang anything in the bathroom. 10. The carpet is some sort of beat-up gray striped thing which just looks dirty and dated. 11. The windows are single pane, our room, 210, faces the street, EVERY single noise carries into our room. We pay $553 for a 2-night stay through Booking, and I understand that the rates tonight are cheaper because of spring break. But even at a rate $50 lower than what we paid, we would not stay in this hotel ever again. I'm not going to say I hate it, we have stayed in one 1,000 times worse here in St. Pete, but certainly "strong dislike" describes it. ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ Edit on 3/24 - to Will H since there is no way to answer answers to reviews, I'm going to take a second. In terms of taking action, there are things that are much more urgent, like electrical outlets, towel bars in the bathroom, a light inside the closet, removing that shelf on top of the sink... those kind of details are what kill the experience. My suggestion: start on those.

Prime location with Great rooms and nice bar pool deck with good people.
