What a very unique experience and the historical value of the hotel and it's location made it absolutely with our stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and made us feel like "old friends". Well done👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

We recently stayed at the Grand Daddy on arriving to Capetown. The hotel amenities are nicely done, and our room was spacious. The staff at the Grand Daddy were fabulous, helpful, friendly and always greeted us with a smile and conversation. This was a good place to base ourselves from, and was easy to get Ubers to/from other central locations. At night the area can be quite noisy, but the hotel provided ear plugs which was amazing. The area outside on the road early morning and evenings didn’t feel particularly safe, but the hotel itself had security and staff at reception and felt very safe. I would recommend staying here

I booked the Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel last minute for my anniversary, prompting them that I was coming for my anniversary and asking them to let me know if there was anything else besides the add-ons that they offered on the website. I never received a response which was quite disappointing. Furthermore the room was okay, they gave us a complimentary bottle of wine (even though I don't drink). Checking in was not great. I had someone behind me who was assisted before me while the receptionist was speaking to me. The only positive I have is the location. The after-sales service was also really horrible. I had someone reach out to apologize to me, spelling my name wrong twice on two occasions. I was told they would look into it but even after following up, I never received a response. Customer service really needs work.

I’m seeing a common list of issues in past reviews Details, details: - any hotel that hosts live music/DJs should make it extremely clear before booking guests - we had to depart quite early after our last day but loud thumping music until 11:30 didn’t make it possible to get a decent night’s sleep - there’s also a lively nightclub about a block away so be sure to close your windows in the evening - the WI-FI on the hotel card was incorrect so we had to call down to get the new one; a simple matter of updating that information - same thing for instructions to lock the safe; another typo - we asked for a wake up call on top of setting our alarms; no wake up call came through - we asked for a bottle opener/corkscrew but it never arrived so I went to a local corner store - after returning from a great day of sightseeing there were mosquitoes in our room; cleaning staff forgot to close or windows which they’re apparently supposed to do before 4-5 pm - any write up that describes the area as lively should be a flag for anyone thinking of booking in this area; “lively” includes a brothel across the street - but to be fair, this didn’t result in any noise issues; just lots of “activity” on our part of the street. - the breakfast area was totally fine as was the service and food. All in all, the location is pretty good, including a hop on/hop off bus stop about 2-3 minutes from the door. My issues above may seem minor or picky to some but my personal view is, it’s a bad idea to combine loud music if you have guests who are sleeping over. The street or strip is indeed lively but if you understand that, and basically be aware of your surroundings, you’ll be fine.

The hotel is quirky and well decorated; the service was very friendly and helpful, but... the rooftop (bar) was closed (which was the whole point of booking here) and we were issued earplugs for noise upon check in... dilapidated charm indeed.

Our stay at this hotel was a truly unique experience. The location is perfect – right in the very center of the city, which made it easy to explore everything nearby. The rooms are set in special trailers on the rooftop, which is such an interesting and original concept. It made our stay even more memorable. The breakfasts were very good, with a nice selection to start the day. The staff were extremely kind and attentive, always taking great care of our comfort and safety. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel!
