About this place Turtle Cove Beach Resort

Turtle Cove Beach Resort offers a relaxed beachside escape in Wangetti, a scenic location along Australia's Far North Queensland coast. This LGBTQ+-welcoming hotel provides a comfortable base for travellers looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the region without fuss or pretense. The property combines the essentials for a genuine beach holiday with the kind of inclusive atmosphere that appeals to many LGBTQ+ visitors. Accommodations include rooms and suites, many featuring their own balconies—ideal for taking in ocean views or enjoying some quiet time. The real draw here is direct access to a private beach, giving guests a more secluded way to relax by the water. Beyond the shoreline, the resort features a restaurant and bar for dining and drinks, a swimming pool, and a hot tub, so you have options whether you want to stay put or venture out to explore the area. Wangetti sits in a relatively quiet part of Queensland, so this resort appeals to travellers seeking a more laid-back, nature-focused getaway rather than a high-energy party scene. It's the kind of place where you can unwind, swim, enjoy good food and company, and simply be yourself in an accepting environment. Whether you're planning a romantic break, a friends' getaway, or a solo retreat, the combination of beachfront setting, on-site facilities, and welcoming ethos makes it a solid choice for LGBTQ+ travellers in the region.

Turtle Cove Beach Resort is, without question, a beautiful venue. The location is stunning, the beach is incredible, and the facilities themselves are well maintained. The staff, mostly backpackers, were genuinely friendly, welcoming, and respectful throughout our stay. However, the overall experience was not what we expected, and that comes down largely to the culture and clientele. Within 10 minutes of arriving, we were propositioned in the spa, which we politely declined. While we fully respect that others may be seeking that kind of experience, it quickly became apparent that this is a very open, sexually charged environment. As a monogamous couple simply looking to relax, enjoy the beach, and unwind in a nude-friendly setting, we felt out of place almost immediately. There was a noticeable undertone that participation in the “extra-curricular” side of the venue was expected. After booking, we also received multiple messages about “how we like to party,” which reinforced that this isn’t just a passive aspect of the environment, it’s a defining feature. The host was personable on the surface, but the interactions often felt performative and, at times, uncomfortable. There was a strong focus on highlighting and encouraging certain dynamics within the guest mix, including openly discussing who might be willing to participate given enough alcohol or incentive. That crossed a line for us. To be clear, the venue itself didn’t create our discomfort, the behaviour of the clientele and the culture that seems to be encouraged did. In summary: if you are specifically looking for a sexually open, swinger-friendly environment, this may be exactly what you want. But if you’re a couple seeking a relaxing, respectful, clothing-optional escape without that pressure, this is probably not the right fit. For us, the setting was beautiful, but the experience was not one we would repeat.

We had the most amazing Easter long weekend at the resort! From the moment we stepped in, beautiful feeling of visiting a close mate! Nathan and his team was very friendly and accomodating, threw us a poolside party with DJ. We stayed in a beachfront suite, falling asleep to sounds of the waves…and waking up to a gorgeous sunrise! We will definitely come back! 😘🥰😘🥰
