Kyushu Rainbow Pride
About This Event
Kyushu Rainbow Pride is the main LGBTQ+ pride event for Japan's southern island, held in central Fukuoka. It is run by a volunteer executive committee, with the local nonprofit Colorful Change Lab as secretariat, and mixes a two-day community fair with a short parade through Tenjin, the city's shopping district.
Entry is free. Both days run 10:00 to 17:00 in Tenjin Chuo Park, with a stage programme of about 20 acts, information and company booths, and a "human library" where you can sit down and talk with LGBTQ+ people about their lives. The parade is on the Sunday afternoon: roughly 1.5 km around Tenjin.
If you want to walk, register in advance. For 2026, pre-registration closed on 9 October; walk-up sign-ups at the reception booth are accepted only until the parade is full. Signage and stage talk are mostly in Japanese, so bring a Japanese-speaking friend if you want the speeches.
The 2025 edition, billed as the 11th, ran 1 to 2 November 2025 in Tenjin Chuo Park under the theme "We are here!". Afterwards the committee issued a public apology for a stage act that used a political party's theme song, and said it would tighten how stage and booth content is checked. The 2026 edition is officially set for 17 to 18 October in the Kihinkan plaza of Tenjin Chuo Park, with the parade on the 18th at 14:00. Organisers have set a target of 35,000 visitors, but we couldn't find an independent count for any past year.
