Courtyard by Marriott Hakuba

I recently stayed at this hotel for one night with breakfast included. The hotel had a calming atmosphere, and the staff were all very attentive and polite, making my stay pleasant from beginning to end. The breakfast, in particular, was delicious, with a wide variety of dishes, and I was very satisfied from the start of the day. Local ingredients were used, and the vegetables, in particular, were very fresh! I was able to choose my favorite ingredients for the omelet, and it was fluffy and delicious! I stayed in a room with a private hot spring bath, which was very comfortable and allowed me to relax. The natural surroundings were also wonderful, and it was a stay that allowed me to refresh myself from the fatigue of everyday life. I would definitely like to stay here again when I visit Hakuba. Thank you for a wonderful time!

Disappointing. Not worth the price. We regretted it. Photoshopped photos. The Onsen area is OLD dirty and overlooks the parking / street, definitely not like the photos. Lobby is basically a hallway. Rooms BASIC: plastic tatami, laminated floors, plastic unit bath shower. Definitely not coming back.

I had an excellent stay at Courtyard by Marriott Hakuba and was impressed throughout my entire visit. The room was spacious, clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was very comfortable, allowing me to relax and rest well after a full day of sightseeing and outdoor activities. The service was outstanding. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely willing to help. What stood out the most was that the staff spoke English fluently, making communication easy and stress-free for international travelers. Whether asking for information, recommendations, or assistance, the staff were always approachable and helpful. The breakfast was delicious, with a good variety of options and high-quality ingredients. It was an enjoyable way to start each day. Overall, Courtyard by Marriott Hakuba delivered an exceptional guest experience with excellent accommodations, great food, and outstanding service. I would gladly stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Hakuba.

I stayed for one night during the Obon holiday in 2026. The hotel's exterior looks a little dated, but the interior is clean. This time, I used a free night award from Marriott Bonvoy. Even though it was the busy Obon period, I received a room upgrade, and I was very satisfied with the room that had a private hot spring bath and a tatami area. There was also a large public bath, making the hotel itself an enjoyable part of the trip. The hotel is located very close to an area called Echoland, where many restaurants and bars are gathered. The shops lining the street have an atmosphere reminiscent of overseas, making it a place where you can enjoy just strolling around.

I chose this hotel because it's part of the Marriott chain. Both the exterior and interior are very nice. It's a three-story building with an elevator, making it convenient for those with mobility issues. There's a ramp inside the building, but it was a bit steep, which was a slight drawback. Breakfast and dinner were buffet style. For dinner, the main dishes were predetermined (beef, pork, and Shinshu salmon), and you served yourself salads and soups. They had Corona beer, which I drank mostly. You can access the restaurant through the lobby, but it's via stairs, making it difficult for those with mobility issues. You have to take a roundabout route from the main entrance to enter through an outside entrance to the restaurant. The door that was open at dinner was closed at breakfast, which was a disappointment. The room was a Japanese-Western style room with a spacious and comfortable tatami area. However, having to lay out the futon yourself was a bit of a downside. Hakuba also has hot springs, and this hotel's large public bath was also a hot spring. I'm not sure about the indoor bath, but the open-air bath was definitely a hot spring! I warmed up in the hot springs and then took several showers to cool down, and that was the perfect way to relax. There's no sauna or cold plunge pool. I don't mind not having a sauna, but it's nice to cool down your body quickly in a cold plunge pool after warming up in the hot springs!

The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of Japanese and Western dishes. With plenty of choices, from salads and hot dishes to local Shinshu specialties, it's appealing to be able to enjoy a little bit of everything. I was able to fully enjoy a leisurely morning in Hakuba.

The staff's service level was terrible! It was like a business hotel. Completely different from Marriott hotels in the Kanto region. In particular, one arrogant male staff member was indifferent and didn't even greet me, which was unpleasant. With superiors like this, subordinates will never develop. I was looking forward to it, so I'm disappointed. The price was high, and the cost-performance ratio was poor. I will never go there again.

I used this hotel as an overnight stay before climbing Mount Hakuba. The room was a Japanese-Western style room, combining a comfortable Western-style room with a relaxing Japanese-style area. The surrounding environment was quiet, allowing me to sleep soundly. For dinner, I ate at the hotel's restaurant, "LAVAROCK," and everything was truly delicious. I would love to visit again on another occasion. The dishes I ordered were: * Hakuba pork vindaloo * Special soup pasta with garlic toast * Mima venison carpaccio with Hakuba farm blueberry sauce The hotel also has an indoor and semi-open-air hot spring bath, making it a truly luxurious overnight stay. This time, I was using it as an overnight stay and had an early morning departure, so I couldn't relax much. However, since it's located in a villa-like area surrounded by nature, it seems like a hotel where you could also enjoy leisurely daytime walks.

I've given it 3 stars, but depending on the price, I'd give it 4 stars. The price for two people was over 60,000 yen during the summer high season, which is excessive. For that price, you could find better places with meals included. Even considering the recent price increases, I think a reasonable price would be around 15,000 yen per person. At that price, I personally wouldn't think it was bad. Regarding the service, even with Platinum status, I couldn't choose free breakfast. (I had to choose from points, amenities, or a $10 meal coupon.) There was no lounge, and the only free drinks in the lobby were tea. The staff were well-trained, and I had no complaints about the service level of everyone I interacted with. Please refer to the individual sections for further details.

Located in a quiet area, both the service and breakfast were fantastic. It would have been nice if the parking area had been better maintained. Since the property is set in the forest, you need to drive if you want to eat out for dinner, which is a bit inconvenient if you want to have a drink. There are a few dining options within a 10 to 20-minute walk, but being a resort area, the prices are on the higher side. Also, because it was the off-season in May, not all the restaurants were open. Inside the hotel, there was a wonderful scent throughout, and the welcoming amenities and services right by the entrance were a lovely touch. The in-room hot spring was absolutely perfect! My only real complaint is about another family who was taking photos inside the hotel with other guests visible in their shots. I really wished the staff had stepped in on their own initiative to ask them to stop. The location was quiet, and both the service and breakfast were excellent. It would be appreciated if the parking area were a little better maintained. Since it was located in the middle of a forest, if you wanted to eat dinner outside, you had to drive, which was a bit inconvenient if you wanted to drink. There were a few places to eat within a 10-20 minute walk, but as it is a resort area, the prices were on the higher side, and since it was the off-season in May, not all the shops were open. The hotel had a wonderful aroma throughout, and the service provided right upon entering the hotel was excellent. The private hot spring bath in the room was also fantastic! My only complaint is that a family was taking pictures in the hotel with other people in the frame, and I wish the hotel staff had proactively intervened and stopped them.
