About this place Marshall Islands Resort

Marshall Islands Resort is a mainstream hotel in the Delap-Uliga-Djarrit area, the main town strip of Majuro. It is one of the established places to stay on the atoll and gets a lot of business, NGO and government traffic. It is listed as gay-friendly, not as a gay venue. Google reviewers rate it 3.8 from about 200 reviews, so expect functional rather than polished. Majuro has no LGBTQ+ scene to speak of. Same-sex relations are legal in the Marshall Islands, but local culture is church-going and conservative, so discretion in public is sensible. Book directly, as online details are limited.

I got swindled and got the foreigner tax. Was told the shuttle was as free to and from the airport. Then was told no it’s not and I have to pay 30 dollars. Got it waved by the night manager, but day manager changed there mind. It was that or I was stuck. So was forced to pay. The bed was hard as a rock and the pillows were awful. The shower used some heater system that kinda worked but was in Chinese. The AC was solid so I’ll give them that. But the walls were paper thin. But the view was solid so I’ll give them that. Gym was down and had been for months. I’d recommend the other hotel on the island. Farther but better.

My thoughts about the Marshall Islands Resort. This hotel was built in 1996 by the government to host a big meeting of Pacific leaders . It is known as the main place to stay on the island. Although the views of the lagoon from the balconies are beautiful, and the staff at the front desk and restaurant are helpful and friendly albeit slow, but the hotel is old and needs a lot of repair plus horrible beds. The airport shuttle is also a nice and free service. The restaurant food is so so, but the service is very slow. So, if you plan to stay, it is best to keep your expectations low and remember that you are in a remote place. It is a basic hotel with good views and some helpful staff, but it is not a luxury resort .

The room was very good (big, A/C, shower). But it's expensive. And pool, fitness center and tennis court were closed due to renovations (without discount). Works began in the morning and waked me up. Airport transfer now costs 15$, before it was included. Restaurant is average.
