I’ve been banned from Grindr again. With so many gay community people visiting Phuket this weekend, the timing is particularly frustrating.

Grindr is a US-based, publicly traded business. Its past sharing of users’ personal data with advertising partners without valid consent resulted in a 65 million Norwegian kroner fine, upheld on appeal in October 2025. That is documented, not a rumour.

Now Grindr is investing heavily in AI. For me, its expensive subscriptions and commercial direction feel increasingly distant from the community I want to be part of.

I miss the simple pleasure of gay men meeting, talking, laughing and making friends face to face. That’s the spirit we keep alive at Phuket Gay Homestay.
