About this place Esthetic Joys Embassy

Esthetic Joys Embassy is a mixed-crowd bar and arts space located near the Opera House in one of Yerevan's most culturally active neighbourhoods. The venue hosts occasional queer events alongside its regular programming of jazz nights and arts gatherings, giving it a reputation within the community as a welcoming and creatively minded space. It does not advertise itself as an LGBTQ+ venue — none of Yerevan's queer-friendly spaces do — but it is known within the community as a place where an inclusive, open-minded crowd reliably gathers. The Opera House area, close to the Cascade and Northern Avenue, is one of the most cosmopolitan corners of the city, which creates a natural environment for a venue of this character.

Cool place with great music. The venue spans three floors, with both indoor and outdoor areas. There’s also a small dance floor, a pool table, and an air hockey table, which makes it an even more fun place to hang out. The only downsides were that someone (apparently the social media manager) was filming us up close with an iPhone without asking, which felt quite intrusive. Also, the staff asked us several times to keep our voices down, even though the whole place was just as loud. We were told there are residential buildings nearby, but it feels a bit odd for a bar to ask guests not to have a normal conversation. Overall, it’s a fun place with a great vibe, but these two things made the experience less enjoyable.

It used to be a nice place. Nowdays it’s just an average tourist trap with bad cocktails (bloody mary is just tomato juice + vodka) and unfriendly service.
