Tasteless Open Stage is exactly what the name promises: a celebration of the weird, camp, chaotic and wonderfully questionable.

First, get ready for live performances and open-stage energy. Then, settle in for a midnight-movie experience that takes good taste, gently places it in the bin, and moves on.

Produced by Phoenix From Mars and House of Clits, the evening creates space for queer performance, experimentation and unapologetic silliness.

Whether you come for the drag, the movie or simply the chaos, you are welcome.

This Month’s Midnight Movie: The VelociPastor

This time, Tasteless Open Stage presents The VelociPastor, a 2018 comedy horror film that has gained a cult following for its deliberately absurd premise and low-budget charm.

After losing his parents, a priest travels to China. There, he mysteriously gains the ability to transform into a dinosaur. Yes, really.

He is then persuaded to use his new powers to fight crime. Naturally, ninjas also become involved.

In other words, The VelociPastor is not a film that asks you to take it seriously. Instead, it embraces absurdity, camp and B-movie excess from beginning to end.

Therefore, it is a particularly appropriate choice for a night called Tasteless.

A Queer Night for Lovers of Camp and Cult Cinema

Tasteless Open Stage Vienna is for anyone who enjoys drag, alternative performance, cult movies, horror, camp or entertainment that exists somewhere between “Why?” and “Why not?”

You do not need to know the film beforehand. Likewise, you do not need to be a drag expert or a dedicated horror fan. You can simply come along, grab a drink and enjoy the ride.

Most importantly, Villa Vida Café is a queer community space. LGBTQIA+ people, friends, allies and curious newcomers are welcome.

Please respect the performers, the team and the people around you. Discrimination, harassment and hateful behaviour have no place at Villa Vida.
