Hessenhuis Cafe

Went on a slower Thursday night as out of towners. Wonderful hospitality, great music and the bartender brought us some surprise wings! Super cool historic building as well and darling little patio. Thank you Hessenhuis!

Discovered a trendy bar with a great atmosphere and good music. I highly recommend it!

Best avoided. Exorbitant prices (4 euros for water), the cappuccino machine didn't work, and upon closer inspection, it turned out there wasn't any milk for the coffee (which they initially forgot), and they spilled a tray of drinks on my friend without any compensation... What a joke, they haven't heard of customer service here.

The atmosphere is a bit disappointing. The DJ plays nice music, but there are tables in the way preventing it from really becoming a dance floor. There is a lot of lighting on, so the atmosphere never becomes that of a dance bar. The service at the bar takes a long time and is particularly inefficient. Outside the bar, two people are standing entering your order on an iPad and then doing nothing but waiting for the drink to be prepared by a bartender. These order takers could also be made behind the bar and have the guest enter their order on the iPad themselves, or, like in a normal bar, simply have the bartender handle orders and drinks, which would create more interaction with the staff. It currently feels as if the owner is trying to be chic with this; however, it is not chic, does not create a cozy atmosphere, and this staff could be deployed much more efficiently.
