What reviewers say

Visitors consistently praise Hotel Flandria - Centrum for its excellent, central location, making it easy to explore Antwerp's attractions and shops, and note the hotel's cleanliness. However, some guests found the rooms to be small with limited storage, and temperature control could be an issue, with one reviewer mentioning it being cold at night.

About this place Hotel Flandria - Centrum

Hotel Flandria - Centrum is a modest mainstream hotel on Barrestraat, a quiet side street in Ghent's historic centre. It's listed as gay-friendly but isn't a gay venue, and older claims calling it a 'gay hotel' don't hold up. It averages 3.5 on Google from about 550 reviews. Expect basic rooms and a convenient location rather than extras. St Bavo's Cathedral, the Belfry and the canal-side Graslei are all within a few minutes' walk, and Ghent's small cluster of gay bars is in the same compact centre. Driving and parking in the old town are restricted, so arrive by train and take the tram from Gent-Sint-Pieters.

We should have read the reviews before booking. Although only a 1 night stay, this was hugely disappointing. Two twins rooms booked, both were very poor in standard. Tiny room and shower room . dank and dark with mosquito's for company. I did not see any other rooms, but if the rooms we occupied were typical, then don't believe the images on the web site.

Our room was clean nice. Bathroom was pretty good. Location was nearly perfect. Close to the city center, but on a quiet street.

We had booked this hotel, which offers online check-in. Despite paying the tourist tax, we still hadn't received an email with instructions on how to access the property. We called the numbers listed on the website for hours in vain, while we were standing outside in the cold; no one ever answered! So we sent an email, but there was no response either. It was scandalous! The result: we booked another hotel and asked for a refund! SCANDALOUS!

Basic, somewhat outdated rooms. Very friendly staff, good breakfast and great location in the city centre. It is cheap, so basic is to be expected. From the (attic) room (24) there is a beautiful view of the large church.

Great place if you're in Ghent for a weekend and go out a lot. And only go to bed late when you're really tired. The rooms are truly ‘vintage’. I was lucky or unlucky enough to have a room on the street side with a music school 😖. Came here for business on the advice of a Belgian colleague… but I do speak to him about it.

Good hotel, friendly staff, good location in the city center. De Reep parking garage nearby.
