Baltic Pride Tallinn
About This Event
Baltic Pride rotates each year between Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn; the name was first used in Riga in 2009. Tallinn hosted in 2011, 2014 and 2017, lost 2020 to COVID-19, and hosted again in 2023 and 2026. In the years between, the city runs its own smaller Tallinn Pride. Estonia became the first former Soviet country to legalise same-sex marriage, in force since January 2024.
The week packs in about 50 events, from films and exhibitions to talks and parties, and ends with a Saturday march that starts at the Viru Gates on the edge of the Old Town. In 2026 the march finished with an open-air concert at Telliskivi Creative City.
The 2026 edition ran 1 to 7 June, with the march on 6 June under the slogan 'Vaikides vaenu vastu ei saa' (Silence won't defeat hate). Before the march ERR reported only about 25 groups registered, low by international standards; the University of Tartu took part for the first time. We found no official headcount. If the rotation holds, Riga hosts in 2027 and Tallinn's next turn is 2029, but no dates exist for that yet.
