Gay Saunas in Helsinki
Finland invented the sauna, so it's fitting that Helsinki keeps a gay sauna alive even though the scene is small. Right now the city has exactly one dedicated gay men's sauna — and we'd rather give you the honest picture than pad the list.
Sauna Con Hombres — Finland's only gay sauna
Sauna Con Hombres is the country's sole dedicated gay men's sauna, carrying on the tradition after the long-running Sauna Vogue closed. Now settled at Kruunuvuorenkatu 3 in the Sörnäinen area, it offers the full Finnish ritual — hot steam, relaxation space and an easygoing, cruisy atmosphere — and is open Tuesday through Sunday. For any gay traveller who wants the authentic sauna experience in the country that gave the world the word, this is the essential stop.
Beyond the dedicated sauna, remember that sauna culture is woven through everyday Finnish life: most hotels, gyms and public pools have (gender-separated) saunas, and Helsinki's mixed public saunas — like the seafront Löyly and the historic Kotiharjun Sauna — are relaxed, welcoming places to experience the ritual, even if they aren't gay venues.
