Same-sex marriage has been legal in Finland since March 2017, following the passage of the Marriage Act amendment through parliament in 2014 (with a slim majority) and coming into force after satisfying constitutional requirements. Finland introduced registered partnerships for same-sex couples in 2002. Full adoption rights for same-sex married couples came into effect alongside marriage equality in 2017.
