About this place Centre LGBTQI+ de Paris et d Ile-de-France

The Centre LGBTQI+ de Paris et d'Ile-de-France on rue Beaubourg is the city's main community hub, hosting a welcome and listening service, a specialist library and archive, a friendly cafe and space for scores of member associations covering health, legal support, sport, culture and social groups. It is a first port of call for newcomers looking for information, support or simply to meet people, and a coordinating force behind much of the city's queer community life.

A friend had recommended I check out the library, so I followed her advice. I was with a friend, and we went up to the library. There was a sign on the door saying it was open, but the door was closed to keep the place cool. We went in, and the room was empty except for a man who asked us rather rudely, "What's it for?" So we explained that we wanted to explore the library, and his response was, "Well, it opens at 5 pm." I don't know, write the hours on the door. 💀 The welcome was appalling; I won't be back! Inclusive spaces start with respect and a pleasant, warm welcome. The world is already violent enough without having to deal with the moods of people in the community when visiting an organization... In short, change your tone and learn to express yourself if you want to build community. Afterwards, my friend told me that she had also received a poor welcome during her visit.
