About this place Parc de l'Orangerie (cruising)

Parc de l'Orangerie, Strasbourg's largest park just north-east of the city centre, is a long-standing outdoor gay cruising spot after dark, focused on the wooded areas and paths behind the bowling alley off Boulevard de l'Orangerie. Activity is an evening affair. France fully decriminalised homosexuality in 1791 and protects LGBTQ+ people in law, but this is a public park: be discreet, respect other users, and follow local by-laws.

A marvelous place just steps from the European Parliament, yet easily accessible on foot from the city center. Every corner of the park is immaculately maintained, with beautiful blooms and stork nests on the main building. The children's playgrounds are very clean and organized by age. The paths are comfortable, even for strollers. We even met the staff who take care of visitor safety and reception—a pleasant discovery.

A great green space for the city, with many species of trees and flora. A large pond for boating. If I had to find a fault, I'd say a little more wildlife would be welcome.

A beautiful park full of flowers, green spaces, and trees. I took a boat ride for 10 euros for half an hour. The lagoon is small, and you can easily explore it in that time. It's wonderful to wander around on your way there, passing through the European Quarter, the Great Synagogue, and a lovely park just a few blocks before entering.

I appreciated the much more relaxed atmosphere of the park. After walking the streets of Strasbourg, it felt good to find a space where you can simply slow down. It's pleasant for a stroll without a particular purpose, especially when you want to chat, reflect, or simply enjoy some greenery. A place that makes you want to take your time.

On the advice of our friends, we went to visit this park which enchanted us. The title speaks for itself, it resembles NY's Central Park but in a "Light" version. Suffice it to say that the park is just magnificent 😍. Beautiful spaces, small pond, ducks, swans. Grass where you can sit. Cyclists, joggers, in short, a diverse and varied crowd in this beautiful park. A dining area is pleasantly laid out. Outdoor parking as well. Nature in the city, it's just too crazy. Kudos to the city 😊 for this superbly landscaped space and for its maintenance. Great job 👏

Free park with a beautiful lake and waterfalls. We spent about an hour strolling around the lake on well maintained paths. Great for a stroller or walker. Lots of places to rest and much to see. Not very crowded after 7pm when we visited. Parking lot available and free of charge. Nice casual atmosphere.

It is a large and beautiful park where one can presumably spend hours in nice weather. It is a very calm, relaxed atmosphere, and there is a lot of nature to see: Storks and ducks, flowers and trees, even a small waterfall.

A huge area of parkland located on the outskirts of town, lovely to walk around enjoying the peace and tranquility especially on a sunny day.

A highlight in an otherwise very mediocre city. While the city centre of Strasbourg has not impressed me in any way, the Parc de l’Orangerie is quite beautiful. The classic French garden was built until 1817 and takes its name from the orange trees that Empress Joséphine kept there at the time. Today, the Parc is mainly a recreational area for the locals and perhaps also because all the tourists stay away here.

Beautiful park, very worth a visit. In April the storks were nesting and flying around, amazing to watch. Great ‘sit in and ride’ cars for children. Wonderful avenues with beautiful planting. All round top spot.
