Visitors often praise the hotel's excellent location, close proximity to ski slopes, and friendly, helpful staff. However, many guests find the rooms and breakfast to be very basic, with some noting poor sanitary conditions and a lack of amenities like kettles. About this place HOTEL SKI D’OR

Hotel Ski d'Or is a four-star, gay-friendly hotel that lets you ski right up to the door in Val Claret, Tignes' main village. It's a pretty traditional place, a little wood-paneled, but comfortable enough. You come here to ski, and the hotel makes that easy. You're right on the slopes. Rooms come in two types, Comfort and Prestige, good for one or two people, and all include breakfast. Most look out at the mountains, which is a nice view to wake up to, or to stare at while you're unwinding. You're also right in Val Claret, so restaurants and bars are walkable for après-ski. They have a small spa: a sauna and a Turkish bath. Nothing major, but it's there for sore muscles after a day on the snow. If you're an LGBTQ+ traveler looking for a straightforward ski trip in the French Alps, this place does the job.

Location is good but everything else is disappointing. Poor sanitary conditions in guest rooms. There were not even bottled water or kettle, despite the described "mini bar". Although the receptions are welcoming, they are slow in services. Poor coordination in their booking system. Breakfast itself was also underwhelming — limited options, the same selection every day, and the quality felt like the cheapest grocery stock. Even the coffee from the machine tasted worse than instant coffee. The hotel even put notice in lift forbidding food in room, which is extremely unreasonable.

The room is comfy and newer compared to other hotels in Tignes. Had great view from my room to the grande motte mountain. Location is perfect that walking distance to Tufs chairlift. Breakfast is minimal but OK, I enjoyed each morning their crepes !

I had an exceptional experience with Hôtel Le Ski d’Or, even though I unfortunately did not get the chance to stay there. Due to unexpected circumstances, our trip had to be canceled at the last minute. Despite having a non-refundable booking, the hotel team responded with incredible empathy, understanding, and flexibility. They handled our situation with genuine care and went above and beyond to support us during a very stressful time. Their communication was thoughtful, kind, and highly professional throughout the entire process. It’s rare to encounter such a level of humanity and customer care, and it truly reflects the values of this hotel. Based on this experience alone, I can confidently say that this is a place that truly cares about its guests — not just as customers, but as people. We sincerely hope to visit in the future under better circumstances, and I highly recommend Hôtel Le Ski d’Or to anyone looking for a place that combines professionalism with real compassion. Thank you again to the entire team 🙏

The rooms and breakfast is very basic. Despite the pictures there is no sauna or spa (it closed 2 years ago due to a fire). The service in the breakfast is laughably abysmal. The tables are left dirty, and the food is not restocked with any great haste. The decor and general state of the place is a bit shabby and dusty.

Amazing place to stay for a week skiing. The rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast was simple but nourishing, and the reception staff were always friendly and answering questions.

Everything is very basic - rooms (not even a kettle to make a cup of tea after all day of skiing), breakfast and common area, which never seemed to attract any people. Good spot if you want just a place to sleep.

Stayed 20th-27th December 2025. Great stay, quiet hotel, close to all ski slopes, great staff, they were friendly and helpful. Only lose a star because the ski lockers were very poorly designed and if you were a snowboarder which we both were, you either got your snowboard trapped in or trapped in peoples skis. This could be improved massively.
