About the event

Film screening "Viel zu viel verschwiegen" with filmmaker Annette von Zitzewitz. The film "Viel zu viel verschwiegen" shows in interviews the history and stories of some lesbians who were active in the GDR: to illegally publish a lesbian magazine under the protection of the church, to enable networking and exchange among the often very isolated women in the GDR, or to advocate for the creation of meeting places for lesbians. Later, they were politically active during the period of change to preserve social achievements for women and lesbians in the new social order and to further expand the social structures that emerged, which today still house alternative centers for queers and/or women in many places. The film was shot in 1990/91 by Christina Karstädt and Annette von Zitzewitz. Numerous womenlesbians from the GDR movement and the years of change have their say. Annette von Zitzewitz will be present on site as the filmmaker in the evening and will answer the audience's questions.
