Feminist Perspectives on Relationship Work - Expert Conference
About the event
Feminist Perspectives on Relationship Work
What girls' work can do against loneliness
The expert conference is dedicated to the question of how loneliness can be understood and addressed from a feminist perspective – especially with regard to structural inequalities, social exclusions, and intersectional perspectives on connection and solidarity. As professionals in girls' work and queer youth work, we understand relationship work and connecting with each other as an important strategy against patriarchal constraints.
Because loneliness is increasingly seen as a social challenge – but whose loneliness are we actually talking about? We observe that the "male loneliness epidemic" is already much debated, while the loneliness experience of girls and young FLINTA* remains invisible and unspecific – even though studies suggest that girls and queer young people are lonelier than boys.
Together, we want to illuminate the reasons and effects of loneliness and critically question whether and, if so, what preventive options girls' work offers and how we can develop them further.
The expert conference invites professionals from all areas of youth welfare to exchange ideas about feminist practice and fairer perspectives on the mental health of young people.
