About the event

globale° revisited. Writing in Exile
As part of the heimaten Festival for plural democracy

Conversation with Tania Arcimovich, Fariba Vafi, Karima Shabrang, and Svenja Leiber.
Moderation: Maha El Hissy
Translation (Persian – German): Jutta Himmelreich

Following the successful first event as part of the heimaten Festival last year, globale° in cooperation with Weiter Schreiben brings together author perspectives that are receiving less and less space in the discourse these days and threaten to get lost in the tangle of crises and cuts. The event focuses on writing in exile and between languages, the production of literature in Germany today, and the position of marginalized voices within it.

In the heimaten Festival 2026 event, authors from Belarus, Afghanistan, and Iran come together to talk about their experiences in the current times.

A cooperation of Haus der Kulturen der Welt, globale° – Festival für grenzüberschreitende Literatur e.V., Weiter Schreiben, the Belarusian community “Razam” e. V., and Weserburg Museum für moderne Kunst.
