About the event

Artistic Intervention along the Left Weser Bank: [Locating the In-Between]
From September 11 to 13, [Locating the In-Between] invites you to an intervention along the left Weser bank, which will be fundamentally redesigned in the coming years due to new flood control requirements. With installations, photographs, sound works, walks, and performances, seven artists will address the stretch between Wilhelm-Kaisen-Brücke and Stephanibrücke as a place of transition.

For some, it is the daily commute to work, or relaxation by the Werdersee; for breweries and factories, it has been a place of production, delivery, and shipping of goods for centuries; for the plane trees and birds, a contested habitat – the urban space along the left Weser bank is characterized by many different presences. Due to rising water levels and new requirements for flood protection, the section of the dike called "Stadtraum" between Piepe and Stephanibrücke will be fundamentally changed in the coming years.

Before the renovations begin in 2028, [Locating the In-Between] invites you to an artistic site visit between Stephanibrücke and Wilhelm-Kaisen-Brücke from September 11 to 13. Seven artists from Bremen and beyond will comment on and mark the site with temporary sculptures, paintings, photographs, and sound works.
