TRAILER
In the icy world of Antarctica and the rough waves of the Southern Ocean, an international group of scientists investigates whether the world's largest ice sheet is threatened by melting. The melting of East Antarctica would cause global sea levels to rise by 52 meters. For the expedition to this inhospitable part of the Earth, the extensive experience and expertise of the ship's crew of the research vessel Polarstern are of immense importance. Without them, research under these extreme conditions would not be possible. The documentary by director Ines Reinisch was made during the POLARSTERN expedition PS140 under the direction of Marcus Gutjahr, organized by the Alfred Wegener Institute and GEOMAR. Ines Reinisch's film captures the high level of personal commitment, patience, courage, sacrifice, team spirit, and responsibility of the ship's crew and researchers.
The documentary is being shown as part of the "Bremen Water Weeks," organized by the BUND and taking place for the second time.
