About This Event
CSD Dresden is the Christopher Street Day for Saxony's capital, run by the volunteer association CSD Dresden e.V. Demonstrations have taken place here since 1994.
Each year there are about two weeks of talks, parties and community events. The core is a street festival on the Altmarkt, with a stage, speakers' corner, information stands and counselling, followed by the march. In 2026 the march set off from the Altmarkt at noon, crossed the Albertbrücke into the Neustadt and returned for a closing rally. The march and the festival are free; the official Pride Party in the evening is a separate event.
In 2026 there was a legal fight. The Landesdirektion Sachsen decided the stationary street festival was not a protected assembly. On 2 June 2026 the Saxon Higher Administrative Court in Bautzen overturned that and provisionally classed the whole CSD as an assembly. Across Saxony, taz has reported a sharp rise in crimes around CSD events, including far-right threats against people returning from Bautzen's CSD in August 2025.
The 2026 programme ran from 30 May to 14 June under the motto "100% Mensch. Ohne Wenn und Aber!". The street festival was 4 to 6 June and the march was on 6 June. The city said organisers expected around 10,000 marchers. MDR and Sächsische Zeitung reported "thousands", and Correctiv found that a viral claim of 250,000 was false. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked; the march is usually in late May or early June.
