⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The "unterrum" in Hanover is an open meeting place with a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. Besides offering advice and discussions on queer topics, there's a great bar with good drinks and friendly people. A safe and welcoming space right in the heart of Hanover.

I was visiting Hanover and went to Untenrum in the evening. It had a great atmosphere where you could have cool and interesting conversations. Everyone is welcome there, just as they are!

I went there to get tested for STIs after checking their website, which indicated they offered testing on Mondays. Nowhere did it say an appointment was necessary, so I assumed I could just show up without one. When I arrived, the staff member (thank you) politely asked the counselor if she had time for a consultation. However, during the conversation, my request was denied, even though the diagnostic window for many STIs had already passed in my case. The counselor called my request idiotic and said it was too early for an HIV test (not entirely true; I was only asked about the time of my last contact. Previous contacts weren't considered) and that they only perform STI tests if the HIV test is included. Since my health is important to me, I continued to inquire about the other STI tests. I was eventually told that the doctor had to leave soon and therefore no one else could be tested. Instead, I was offered an appointment only at the end of the month – supposedly because the window period for HIV testing hadn't yet passed (again, that's not necessarily true; I was only asked about the time of my last contact. Previous contacts weren't taken into account). The symptoms (flu-like) that I described were, in their opinion, exclusively attributed to HIV, even though that's not necessarily accurate either. Another point I noticed: I was told twice to "go to the doctor," even though I explicitly mentioned that I'm new to the city and don't yet have a regular doctor's office. What's the point of offering a testing center if someone seeking a test is simply sent "to the doctor" anyway? Honestly, I feel let down. It seems to me like they just want to get rid of me. As you know, STIs are an important issue in the LGBTQ community. Many young people, in particular, are often unaware of the risks. I wanted to act responsibly and take appropriate measures to protect my health. Unfortunately, I was denied this opportunity.
