Hannover Gay Pride (CSD) 2027

CSD Hannover, northern Germany's biggest Christopher Street Day party, has been going since 1991. Now, it pulls in over a quarter-million people every year. Hannover, Lower Saxony’s capital, mixes serious politics with one of Germany’s most fun and open Pride celebrations.

You'll see a huge parade: floats, bands, leather folks, drag queens, and community groups, all making their way through downtown Hannover. It ends at the CSD street festival on Opernplatz. That festival runs for days. It has German pop acts and international DJs on the main stage, drag shows, political speeches, and endless food and drink stalls. At night, parties take over places like Schwule Sau, Bei Chez Heinz, and Café Konrad. The whole city just hums for the weekend.

Hannover isn't what many expect. It’s got green spaces, baroque gardens, and modern buildings. The Herrenhausen Gardens are some of Europe’s best baroque gardens. You can also see the Maschsee lake, the New Town Hall (check out the tilted dome elevator), and the old Marktkirche between Pride events. The city’s also a good jumping-off point for the Harz Mountains and Lower Saxony’s half-timbered towns.

Getting there: Hannover’s a big train hub. Direct ICE trains go to Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam. The international airport is 20 minutes from downtown. The U-Bahn and tram system works well and isn't expensive. Downtown is compact, easy to walk. May weather is usually mild. Book your hotel early; CSD weekend fills up fast.

If you’re LGBTQ+, CSD Hannover is a must. It feels like real German Pride, less touristy than Berlin or Cologne, but just as passionate, welcoming, and organized. Big crowds, friendly Lower Saxon hospitality, beautiful gardens, and a real community vibe—it’s good for anyone wanting a genuine German Pride trip.
