Antenatal Preparation Weekend for Queers*

On September 19 and 20, the next antenatal preparation weekend for queers* will take place at the Queeres Zentrum Karlsruhe, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
This course offering is explicitly aimed at expectant parents and pregnant individuals and their companions who identify as queer* or as part of the LGBTQIA community.
Course content
It is our concern to create a safe(r) space for queer expectant parents, where we can deal with the preparation for the birth of your child outside of binary and normative ideas about bodies, family, and parenthood.
All content of a classic antenatal preparation course is covered – we discuss the different stages of labor and inform you about possible interventions. We work on breathing and relaxation techniques so that you are well prepared for labor. Preparation for the postpartum period and the start of parenthood will be discussed, as will the nutrition of your child and – if you wish to breastfeed – everything important for a successful start to breastfeeding. We are in contact with the Karlsruhe Youth Welfare Office to provide input on stepchild adoption and legal issues.
Furthermore, the course offers an opportunity for networking and exchange with other queer families from the region.
