Reading: 'Wind in my headscarf' with Roya Soraya
About the event
The Queer Center Mannheim (QZM), the city library, the equal opportunities officer, and the queer officers of the city of Mannheim and the women's bookstore Xanthippe jointly invite you to a special reading: The comic author and illustrator Roya Soraya presents her autobiographical graphic novel 'Wind in my headscarf'.
Roya, who grew up in Germany, travels with her father to Iran – the country that was always present in her childhood family stories. Between breathtaking landscapes and strict rules, she experiences a place that both welcomes and rejects her. As a queer woman, she moves between wonder and fear, closeness and caution, and begins to understand what origin means when freedom is not a given.
The event is free of charge in the Dalberg Hall at the Dalberghaus of the city library. The women's bookstore Xanthippe will offer a book table with selected media. The reading is made possible with the support of the equal opportunities officer, the queer officers, and the district council Innenstadt/Jungbusch. Thank you very much!
Information on accessibility: Unfortunately, the Dalberghaus is not accessible without steps. There are steps at the entrance, and the toilets are also only accessible via stairs. Questions to lisa.schlode@qzm-rn.de.
