About this place Athens Tiare Hotel

The Athens Tiare Hotel has established itself as the go-to gay-friendly accommodation recommendation for Athens — a boutique property in the central city that combines a convenient location with an explicitly welcoming attitude toward LGBTQ+ guests. The hotel occupies a building in the Monastiraki area, placing guests within walking distance of both the Acropolis and the Gazi gay district — a combination that makes it ideal for visitors who want to divide their time between cultural exploration and the gay social scene. The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained in the boutique hotel standard, and the staff's familiarity with the needs of LGBTQ+ guests — recommendations for the Gazi scene, knowledge of Athens Pride timings, comfort with same-sex couples — gives the property a warmth that generic chain hotels do not replicate. The rooftop terrace offers Acropolis views that justify spending more time at the hotel than the nightlife-focused visitor might initially plan. For first-time visitors to Athens who want accommodation that will orient them toward the city's gay scene from the moment they arrive, the Tiare is the natural choice.

We stayed from July 28th to 31st. The hotel is excellent and conveniently located for Monastiraki. The hotel is very close to the metro, very clean, with a warm welcome, and above all, an excellent breakfast, both savory and sweet! It has its own restaurant! The staff were helpful and welcoming.

We booked a room that’s supposed to have a a queen bed but we ended up with twin beds instead! When we told them this, they said this is what they have available. Also, the towels are not clean and they smell bad and the breakfast isn’t great. Avoid!

My experience at this hotel was very bad and did not live up to my expectations. Room and Accommodation: I booked a room with a king-size bed, but I was surprised to find two single beds stuck together. The mattress was very old and extremely uncomfortable. Services: The reception staff were unprofessional, and the Wi-Fi was very weak in the room. Food: The food was disappointing. Location: The only positive point was the hotel's location in the city center, near Omonia Square, but this did not excuse the poor service. I could not use the balcony at all, and you couldn't even go out onto it; it was just a view. Smoking was not allowed, and there was no designated smoking area. Overall, a very bad experience, and I do not recommend it.
