Stayed here for my birthday and overall enjoyed it, but with real caveats. The location is perfect, right next to Plaka and walkable to everything. The staff are the highlight: front desk, bellboys, breakfast team, all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was above expectations. We had an 8th-floor Acropolis-view room and the view is a genuine wow. Two things to know before booking. First, the rooms are an open-bathroom concept that isn't made clear on the website. The sink is in the corridor area and the shower has a clear glass door to the room, so privacy while showering is basically zero. Fine if you choose it knowingly. Second, cleaning was inconsistent (dusty shelves, floors that left my feet dirty) and the coffee/milk refills were hit-or-miss. There was also an attempt to charge me for a minibar item we never touched. Disappointing for a self-described 5-star hotel. Great stay overall, but know the room layout and check your bill.
Honestly, I don't understand the hype about this hotel. I do believe its main advantage is its location, as it's in the very center, so it's not cheap. Everything is close by. The hotel boasts coconut mattresses, and after sleeping in two different rooms, one was okay, while the other felt a bit worn out, making me feel like I was about to fall out of bed. The biggest downside, however, is the breakfast, which is very basic. There are so many delicious foods in Greece, but at this hotel in the center of Athens, there wasn't much to choose from for breakfast.
Nice room with Parthenon view. Busy and pleasant neighbourhood. Lovely beds. No parking on site, paid garages nearby.Very good breakfast with a range of cooked dishes all included.
No rooftop pool as advertised which is the reason we booked at the high price point. Surprised this can be called a 5 star
Misleading because there is no pool or rooftop at all, unlike advertised by nearly everything on media. The pool is the only reason we booked.
COCO-MAT Athens BC has a very convenient location and some fascinating design elements, like the glass floors and flying birds art installation. Unfortunately, the hotel's famous rooftop terrace was closed during our stay. This was a major letdown since the rooftop view and pool are a huge part of their marketing; instead of enjoying the open air, our Acropolis views were limited to looking through glass doors and walls. The rooms are also on the smaller side. That said, the sauna room is excellent and a nice perk.
