The luggage service was excellent, they let us stay even after check-out, and the person at reception was very kind.
It's more of a hotel than a hostel, but with small dormitories. There's no real communal space, no shared kitchen. The rooftop is basically just for the bar.
We deeply disliked our stay in the hostel. The matress was the worst we have ever been at, and killed our back. We booked a room with view but the sunshade was on and you could see nothing. We kindly ask to have it removed, but told us that is was impossible. We sayed that we wanted the complaint file and suddenly it was possible and took it only 5minutes... The noise is awful, you hear literally every sound of the whole building, making it very difficult to sleep. Toilet was very very tiny, and a bit disgusting. We were given only two towels (no hand one). Location is great, but we would necer book it again. The price changes from night to night, cheaper online than on site and it was 150€/night...
What you would expect for a hostel with a very good view and location. But be warned - there are children running around this place at all hours. Parents come here for the cheap rooms and let the kids run around the stairwell screaming which staff and parents do nothing about. One group of people coming in drunk, totally normal. An hour + everyday and evening of kids screaming and stomping? Not so much.
We stayed at the Safestay Athens Monastiraki with a school tennis team: 12 students and 2 coaches. It’s a hostel, so we didn’t expect luxury, but the girls’ room with 6 bunk beds was very small and one of the beds was broken. The friendly staff handled it quickly, but it was still wobbly and squeaky. Breakfast buffet is from 08:00, but because we had to be at the tennis venue at 08:15, we couldn’t use it. We got a pick up breakfast instead. It was very minimal, but of course better than nothing. On the last day we could use the buffet breakfast and it was nice, but also minimal. The location is very central, right at Monastiraki square and only a 9 minute walk from the Acropolis. From the rooftop bar you have a nice view of the Acropolis and the Thissio temple. For young people this is a perfect place to stay at when you are in Athens. Super location, very friendly staff, fair prices.
My friend and I stayed here for a night. Very central, nice bathrooms. They have a beautiful rooftop patio and the bar staff, Kate, was extremely lovely and helpful. Great place! :)
