We had the degustation menu and were very happy to see how the menu reflects different expressions of Thessaloniki and its culinary history through time. The city’s connection to the sea comes through beautifully in dishes such as the mussels and the cabbage roll with scorpionfish. The urban Greek tradition is represented by the fish giouvarlakia and an outstanding interpretation of moussaka. Macedonia and Mount Athos are referenced through the Agioritiko-style fish served in a rich onion broth, while the eggplant pastrami brings a subtle nod to Thessaloniki’s Sephardic heritage. A very thoughtful and well-executed effort by the chef and the entire team. The degustation menu is also very reasonably priced, while the wine list offers excellent value. Our only suggestion would be to expand the wine selection with more low-intervention and naturally made wines.

The location is excellent. We were suggested a table in straight line with the entrance- rather less appealing. They had not taken note of my email adding a dinner guest- always a little embarrassing for the added guest. They had also taken no note of a birthday announcement: poor lines of communication. Conventional lounge music fills the room, too loud for our liking and unnecessary; adding to misunderstandings with the attentive waiters. We sadly do not speak Greek well enough but it does not support the waiters whose home tongue isn’t English. The ingredients are good but the fine taste of fine ingredients is drowned out by rich often too sweet sauces. In all too much fat to enhance flavours. The wine waiter was excellent. Very few desserts but one common one - Creme brûlée- not available. The waiters started to clean the tables, removing table cloths right next to us ect- rather a bad habit in a restaurant proud on tradition and style whilst we were still eating I had also asked a waitress to check on table availability for the rooftop bar. She never got back to me. In short: a lot of pretension, a lot of possibility but presently far off the mark. A pity.

We visited the restaurant for dinner, the food was excellent as was the service from the staff. The goat spaghetti and the kontosouvli were particularly tasty dishes that you will hardly find similar ones in Thessaloniki.
