Hotel Excelsior San Marco

From the train station, it's a 15-minute walk straight ahead. Continuing straight ahead leads to the cog railway and the stairs to the upper town. Shops and restaurants in the lower town are nearby. The rooms are relatively small but spotlessly clean. I really enjoyed the balcony. The room has a refrigerator stocked with complimentary water and a kettle for coffee and tea. Breakfast is wonderful, and you can enjoy it on the terrace overlooking the upper town. The staff is very friendly. The only downside is the excessive amount of electronics in the room. Everything works, but not necessarily as you'd like, and the bright green control panel in the room is quite bothersome at night, along with the red standby light on the TV, which can't be turned off.

We chose this hotel because of the location which is excelent. It also has a parking for hotel guests which is super convenient if you're driving (25€ per night). The room rate includes breakfast and it was extraordinary. We asked for a room with a view, if possible, and the view to the old city was magnificent. The room itself was clean and comfortable. However, the carpet on the hallway could certainly be updated and replaced. Not only it was super stained but it smelled terrible. Luckily, the smell did not penetrate into the room. Some items in the room could also be updated, like the lamps, and certainly the hair dryer in the bathroom... out of an antique store.

Excellent establishment, close to the funicular with easy parking. Quality restaurant with attentive service and an incomparable view.

Location very close to the station and also to the Alta citta di Bergamo. Rooms are nice, the interior could be renovated and I loved the fact that the hotel had only solid soaps to be suistanable, that got edditional two stars in my eyes

The hotel is in a perfect location with a view of the Old Town! The room was clean, cleaned daily, the food was delicious, and there was something for everyone. The staff was friendly and helpful! I highly recommend this hotel!

We had the opportunity to stay in Bergamo at the Excelsior San Marco Hotel last month; both my wife, my son and I immediately understood that the very kind Director, Beniamino Tomassini, was a special person!!! We were deeply touched by his exquisite kindness, as well as by his truly profound competence and professionalism!!!! A Director with all the trimmings, whose work and personality are perfectly reflected in every little detail of the staff and in everything else in general, at the level of the GREAT (great in the truest sense of the word...) hotel, so masterfully managed by him!!! It will be a pleasure to return as guests...

Comfortable, convenient location, accessible by foot to both the center and the train to the upper city, very good restaurant = awesome view!!
