Bergamo Pride 2026
About This Event
Bergamo Pride 2026 hits northern Italy in July. Arcigay Bergamo, the local chapter of Italy’s biggest LGBTQ+ group, puts it on. The parade usually cuts through Città Bassa — the lower, modern part of town. You’ll get good views of the UNESCO-listed Venetian Walls that ring Città Alta, Bergamo’s upper town. We don’t have a specific July date yet.
This event comes from a history of activism, reflecting the wider fight for LGBTQ+ rights in Italy. Pride itself started with Stonewall. Bergamo’s version has grown since it began, now pulling in 5,000 to 8,000 people, locals and visitors alike.
Expect a lively crowd. The main parade is the core of it, with colorful floats, banners, and energetic marchers. It typically winds down Città Bassa’s main streets. Beyond the march, Bergamo Pride usually includes other events. Think parties: dance nights at local clubs, or more casual get-togethers. The 2026 venues aren’t set, but past Prides used public squares and private spots. You’ll find cultural performances too: live music, drag shows, theater. These often feature local and international artists. Educational workshops and panel discussions, on LGBTQ+ issues, human rights, and well-being, happen in community centers or university spaces. They often set up a "Pride Village" – a central spot for info, merch, food and drink, and a stage for day-long performances.
If you’re coming for Bergamo Pride 2026, book a room early. Bergamo has hotels in Città Alta and Città Bassa. Città Bassa, especially near the train station and shopping streets, is practical; it’s close to the parade route and transit. Città Alta is pretty, but means more uphill walking or taking the funicular. Hotels and guesthouses fill up fast, particularly for July weekends. Book six to eight months out for the best selection and prices. Tickets for specific events — evening parties, special performances — usually drop closer to the date. You can often buy them online through the official Bergamo Pride website or at spots in the city.
Bergamo Pride feels joyful, but also has a strong community and advocacy vibe. The crowd is mixed: all ages, backgrounds, sexual orientations. It feels welcoming.
