Mercure Hotel Tilburg Centrum

Where to start? I made a reservation at this hotel through Expedia back in October, reserving and paying upfront for a room in May 2026 as there was a concert at the venue close by. Two weeks before the date of the concert the hotel called me, saying they had moved me to a hotel a few miles away from the city centre. Apparently they had overbooked a whole floor worth of rooms or so I was told, and they had to cancel all the ones made through Expedia or other third party websites first. I told them the reason I was staying in the city centre was because I wanted to be close to the concert venue, a 3 minute walk. Instead of a 10 minute drive, so the hotel did offer to pay for up to 4 taxis, however I explained this would be inconvenient to myself, both myself and my friend who was staying with me were arriving to the station at different times, and also both leaving the next at different times, well there’s four taxi trips, without going into the city to the concert, I also didn’t want the hassle of constantly having to think about how and when to get a taxi, it’s the whole reason I booked a hotel in the city centre. So I spoke with another manager who went away for a week to look at other options. After numerous phone calls through the week prior to arrival they said they had found a nice apartment for me in the city centre, so I appreciate the effort they went to to find me this, they paid for it on my behalf so I didn’t need to worry about any of the details. Fast forward to the day of arrival, I still hadn’t received any check in details to the apartment. Around 15:00 I received a call from the apartment explaining I hadn’t received check in details because the Mercure hadn’t paid them! So I then had to get on the phone to the Mercure to ask them what was going on! They informed me there was an error when payment was attempted, and then asked me to make the payment when I arrived and they would transfer me the money back, how utterly ridiculous from a hotel group of this size. I explained to them that’s it’s an apartment, they have no payment mechanism there. So they went away again, and managed to make the payment themselves. Eventually received check in instructions around 5pm. Biggest nightmare I’ve ever had with a hotel and I probably stay in them 60 nights a year on average. I checked into the to find something that resembled a modern student studio, not quite what I had in mind, not great but at least I was in the city. I have spent thousands and thousands in Accor hotels over the years, Mercure, Sofitel, Novotel, Swissotel, Art, ibis, Mama Shelter, 25 Hours, Hoxton.. the list goes on. But I can categorically say I will never be using the Accor brand again.

Excellent hotel, ideally located in the city center with parking accessible from the hotel. Very spacious and well-equipped rooms. Friendly and efficient receptionist.

We passed by here on our walk during the Christmas period. To warm up, we wanted to have a coffee here and then continue walking. A friendly gentleman served us. When we wanted to pay, he felt that we "deserved" a coffee for Christmas! So thank you for this lovely gesture. Lovely place.

I had a great stay at Mercure Tilburg Centrum. The location is very central, making it easy to get around the city. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable, and the bed was excellent. Staff were friendly and check-in was smooth.
