Never on God's earth would I go back to the Fisherman's Tavern (Broughty Ferry). Reserved a table and tried so hard to order food. I wasn't particularly hungry but you can't have a side of chips on their own. Has to be ordered with a meal. So I ordered Steak Ciabatta with a side salad and an extra of triple cooked chips. Waitress came back said I couldn't have that as the Steak Ciabatta is classed as a side. Not on the menu it isn't, it's called s light bite. I could have a Steak Ciabatta on its own but not with chips. So I ordered a Steak Ciabatta on its own. A few minutes later the waitress came back and said it wouldn't be Ciabatta, it would be plain white bread. Probably the worst service I've ever known in a pub. Not recommended. Do you remember the Fawlty Towers episode with the Waldorf Salad? Well that could have been written in the Fisherman's Tavern. Edit - Photo just added - you can have a burger with chips but not a steak Ciabatta - the mind boggles. There's something about the hospitality industry that needs to be remembered here.
My favourite tavern in Scotland, and I will be back in 2026
good view by the sea
