About this place Sala Apolo

Sala Apolo occupies a 1940s ballroom on the edge of El Raval and has been the anchor of Barcelona's alternative and queer nightlife since the early 1990s. The physical space is extraordinary: a raked wooden dancefloor, ornate balconies, mirrored walls, and the kind of lived-in character that only decades of genuine use can create. The Nitsa Club night — running on Fridays and Saturdays since 1994 — is Barcelona's most significant queer electronic music event. Nitsa does not programme to a defined sexuality; it programmes to a sensibility that has always been queer-friendly by nature, attracting a crowd that is mixed in gender, age, and orientation but unified by an understanding of what good music sounds like. The Caníbal night on Thursdays is the younger, more explicitly pop-queer companion. Sala Apolo is the answer for Barcelona visitors who want a night out that is genuinely about music rather than spectacle — a club with a thirty-year history of booking the right people and letting the room do the work. The El Raval location, a ten-minute walk from the Gayxample, makes it easily incorporated into a broader evening in the city.

❤️ Sala Apolo is the number one club for me! I have been a techno lover for many years, and in Spain, Sala Apolo is the best place. I’ve been to many techno clubs across the country, and this one is truly number one. The crowd is amazing—friendly, lovely, and easy to connect with. The staff are SUPER: very kind, polite, and genuinely welcoming. The security team feels like your friends—they are warm and respectful, and I love all of them! The bartenders are also very nice. Because of my vibes and dancing, the staff have even given me free drink tickets several times as encouragement—thank you so much for that! Please don’t change your staff or security—they are the best in Spain. Every Friday and Saturday, you’ll find me at Apolo. ❤️ (NITSA > ASTIN – LOVE YOU) Finally, you are the best, and I highly recommend Sala Apolo to both locals and international guests. Love you so much. ❤️

We went this Wednesday, December 17 and besides that alcohol is garragon and charge as if it were a club level, in the environment they threw pepper spray. We got intoxicated, and no one did anything... doormen, no mosses that were at the door. Another year it was my friend and I and they put us in a burundanga, we didn't report but it should be reported, because we have to protect ourselves women.

We went there to see an artist we love that was playing in this venue. This place is very dangerous and sleazy! It looks like a criminal den run by the mob. When we arrived there was polica at the door and people fighting in the street. Inside, the restrooms are packed with people doing hard drugs and selling them. We saw the goonie staff picking people from the dance floor and throw them away violently with no reason. After a certain point it was even hard to dance between the aggressive staff, the overdrugged people and the constant smell of poppers. If an artist that you like is playing in this venue, you know their career is in the gutter.

Went on a Tuesday—perfect choice! Not too crowded, plenty of space to dance. Great commercial music all night and the staff was super polite. Definitely coming back!

My partner and I were assaulted by the security team for asking where the exit was. They used batons (night sticks) on my partner and I was dragged out by two very large security women who took pleasure in hurting me. We were on a work trip with my partner’s colleagues who witnessed this assault. We will be doing everything in our power to make sure the club and security team are held accountable for their barbaric behaviour. Please avoid at all costs.

As always the capacity that can neither breathe nor move, the sound was terrible. I already try to avoid going to the Apollo Room, I only go if a group of what I am a fan of comes, this Thursday I see Sisters of Mercy again... I see it coming... a concert like sardines in can, without being able to dance or move from 50cm square where you get there.

Extremely dangerous place! Two-story disco, without proper logistical security. I visited with a group of friends, when in the middle of the night I was hit by a glass coming from the upper floor. It was not possible to identify how or who threw the glass that hit my head. I got a cut in my head, covered in blood, I was assisted in a room, kind of a nursing room. They didn't want to give me a document with the record of the incident, I had to ask. I presented the situation to a supposed official who said that nothing could be done and nothing wrong had happened. I asked to get me transported home, they said they couldn't do anything. Extremely dangerous, my situation resulted in a small cut in the head, but could have led to something much more serious, having those responsible become irresponsible.

Ridiculous. They attacked my friend with a glass, wounded her head and even kicked us out of the disco when we were the injured. Absurd. We paid to leave because we had someone in the group who was hurt and we were still abused.

I went to see Nek's concert a wonderful concert until the moment of coming out of chaos when when they left t forced to leave x another door q was not the entrance having to cross the whole room full of people gave me a crisis of anxiety and I went to door x where between the safe house told me that the door is closed I took it off and took me to partner and my mother-in-law with me would not let me leave and say open the door x my account. Very bad organization

I went to this club with friends. We waited in line for 30 minutes from 00:30. The club was supposed to open on 0:00. When we finally got in we had to pay 28 euro entree which is absolutely ridiculous as the place was as good as empty. When we were in some people started dripping in. Guys with fishnet shirts and croptops. We were starting to wonder if we did not enter a gay bar. I asked the security guy but he said it was not. After the club was filled with about 90% lgbtq we decided this was not what we were hoping for and left. We were inside for about 45 minutes.
