About this place Sauna Condal

Sauna Condal in Poblenou provides an alternative to the Gayxample sauna cluster for visitors staying in or visiting the eastern beach districts of Barcelona. Poblenou is a neighbourhood that has transformed significantly over the past two decades — once an industrial area, now a creative and residential district alongside the waterfront — and Sauna Condal serves a gay community in this part of the city that does not always make the journey to Eixample. The facilities are solid without matching the scale of Casanova. For visitors staying near the beaches at Mar Bella (the gay beach section of Poblenou), Sauna Condal is the most proximate option.

Don't waste your money!!! I went last Sunday afternoon. Only 12 people and I was charged 24 euros. The place is still falling apart. Shower taps dont work the jacuzzi is dirty. They've installed a few new led lights and called it a renovation. I believe this is now the most expensive sauna in Europe. Don't waste your money !!!!

I have been visiting the sauna Condal for more then 30 years. Probably the one I have returned to the most. Until the last 20 years or so, the cabin areas was twice the size it is now. In that set up, both cabin floors were vast enough (and connected on both sides by stairs) that the process of cruising wasexciting and the place could accomodate a lot of customers. Sunday afternoon were always packed with an older, masculine, non drug user crowd. I visited yesterday and At 4 pm, it was still quiet. Another problem is that a lot of the cabins are occupied by drug using group of friends. You ll be walking around asking: why are so many cabins occupied and so few ppl to be seen? Because they are chilling or sleeping. This means that finding a good room might require patience. Another beef: on the last floor there is a dark cruising area. It s relatively large but not well conceived. Therefore there rarely is a crowd there. It is often empty. As with sauna Casanova (same owner), a lot of the showers were not working and the receptionists do not speak english. Bottom line: this used to be a great bear / masculine kind of place, especially on Sunday, but it has now become a paety place, and because the rooms are nore comfortable then in Casanova, a lot of the weekend customers are the kind occupying rooms for hours on end.

Very nicely designed sauna. Modern dressing room, there’s an elevator. The Turkish bath is super nice, and the finish sauna as well. The showers in this area could be better but they get the job done. The other showers upstairs and the jacuzzi are quite nice. Many Regular cabins with spacious beds. There’s a bar and a ventilated smoking area. It might be smaller than Casanova but it is still quite big, and the people that go there are actually in the sauna/cruising mood, unlike Casanova where they just smoke and make noise and have scream with their friends. IMO it is the only choice in BCN, forget about the other ones.

The Condal is hidden away off Carrer Comtal - even more so now as scaffolding/building works are obscuring the narrow access way to the door. I have been visiting this sauna for over 25 years. During that period not much has changed in the layout of the premises - you still have to be a 'mountain goat' with all the stairs - the video Cinema has been repositioned and the Jacuzzi has been relocated out of the steam room. Unfortunately many of the fittings are as original too. The showers do not work properly (you either scold or freeze to death), the sauna is old and dilapidated and the steam room smells. The Jacuzzi is more truthfully described as a warm pool with moving water! There are still plenty of cubicles as well as darkroom areas, even though some sections have been closed off because of the renovation works. They seem to be carrying out some major renovations and have already upgraded the changing area. What these other renovations are is difficult to imagine, as in any event it would’ve been better to have upgraded the facilities first, as at present the place is dirty and smelly. I was there for several hours on a Sunday and saw no signs of any cleaning being carried out – enough said! The staff were very friendly though. The only saving grace of this sauna is it's mixture of clientele in age and type. The ‘busy’ locations are the G.H. area, sauna, steam room and the top floor darkroom.
