Bilbao Pride 2026 — Euskal Herria Pride
About This Event
Bilbao Pride, or Euskal Herria Pride, is the Basque Country's main LGBTQ+ celebration, not just Bilbao's. It runs in late June or early July. About 50,000 people show up.
Gehitu, the Basque LGBTQ+ organization, puts it together. This isn't your typical Spanish Pride. It's deeply Basque. You'll see Basque flags and ikurriñas right next to rainbow flags. The Euskara language is everywhere. The local LGBTQ+ movement here takes its politics seriously, tying into the larger Basque self-determination project.
The parade winds through Casco Viejo and Ensanche, linking the old town's gay bars to the modern shops. The Guggenheim Museum's riverfront makes a pretty good backdrop for parts of it.
Pride week spreads across Bilbao's gay spots: Medea, Shangri-La, and the Ensanche bars. Gehitu also organizes film screenings, cultural events, and community get-togethers. If you're in the Basque Country in late June, this is your chance to see a Pride that feels genuinely different.
