via Stay22About this place New Samsi
New Samsi, on Whitworth Street, is an old-school Japanese spot right in Manchester city center, a comfortable choice for LGBTQ+ diners.
The place does Japanese staples, but it’s the sushi that gets people talking: always fresh, always good.
What really makes New Samsi stand out is how it’s managed to keep prices flat for over ten years. That’s almost unheard of now.
You can get traditional Japanese dishes here, but they also have milder options if you’re not looking for anything too adventurous. So, if you’re with a group that has different tastes, everyone should find something they like.
It’s an easy spot to hit up before or after going out in central Manchester, offering solid Japanese food without breaking the bank.

After coming back from Japan in July, I have been hesitant to try a Japanese in the UK in case it didn’t live up to expectations. Samsi was great so I needn’t have worried. Good food, tasty, and would definitely stop in again.
Excellent quality and good price , very fast efficient service and a nice pint of asahi!
I always seem to come when it is quiet. The food is always fresh and superb. A go to for some quality and great value Japanese food. Enjoy.
Lovely quiet place, food seemed good also I only had the sushi as everyone had a meal. We had some cocktails which was ok and the staff was friendly and welcoming
We ordered takeout for a group of four and ordered it the day before. the staff were so good in making sure that they got everything right. When we picked it up, one member of staff gave us the receipt to double check that they had everything we asked for. Then when the food was packed up they went through each container to check that everything we ordered was there. The staff were so lovely and friendly. Our order was for a selection of sushi and the wakame seaweed salad. The fish was so fresh and delicious. Will definitely be going again soon. Would recommend as a must have the salmon skin and spring onion uramaki, mackerel nigiri, and the sea bass nigiri. All were absolutely delicious though!
