Alan and Evelyn were pleasant, friendly hosts. The house is in a convenient location just south of Oxford proper - you can walk to High Street in 10-15 minutes, or take one of the many busses that pass by. Our room was spacious, and so was the shower (a major plus because some showers I've encountered in the UK are so small you can barely turn around in them). My only complaint was that the fold-out bed for our third person was not comfortable. However, I informed Alan and Evelyn and they said they'd fix it. Lakeside Oxford Hotel was a satisfying stay.

Couldn’t get in for 30 mins. Ridiculous instructions for getting in!

The rooms were very clean but very small, the staff were attentive, but it would be nice if they could speak more languages.

Room was smaller than expected with a small window+ledge. Only 2 hooks for your clothes. No glass/mug in the toilet. Low water pressure from the shower but WC flushes well. Only bath towel and floor mat provided (no hook inside the toilet for your towel). Bed/mattress was good, pillows were too soft. No work desk, you’ll have to use the window ledge and sit on the bed to work on your laptop. Wifi was good but annoying (you had to enter your email address every time you access it the next day or when you leave the hotel). Room was clean and the corridors too. Lifts were working and I didn’t try the drinks vending machine. There’s a Tesco and Sainsbury right across the street and a Marks & Spencer a 5-minute walk down the street. Many people good cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Suitable for low-budget travellers visiting Oxford for 1–2 nights. Not recommended for business travellers (not even 1 night!).
