At a different price, I'd give it a different rating, but when you pay almost 80 euros for a night, you expect much more. I know places that charge 40 euros and are much better. The house is old and dirty, with peeling paint and stains all over the walls. My room was on the second floor, which you had to reach by climbing a very steep and narrow staircase. Luckily, I only had a small suitcase. When I got to the room, my heart sank. It was tiny, the temperature was like a sauna, and there was no air conditioning. The moment I walked in, I started sweating profusely. To make matters worse, the shower water had no pressure at all; it was barely a trickle even with both taps on full blast. There was nowhere to hang my clothes. A few hangers were hanging in one corner, but since the microwave and the huge refrigerator were right below them, there was hardly any room for clothes to hang on them. So the suitcase, with all my clothes inside, took up half of the very little space available. There was a small shelf in the bathroom window that could have been used for toiletries... if it weren't for the fact that it was about 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit), so I had to leave the shaving cream and everything else on the floor. When you go to the website, you see beautiful photos of a communal space that serves as both a kitchen and dining area. When I arrived, I discovered that I didn't have access to that area. It seems that only those who pay for the most expensive rooms can use it. The parking lot was in the back, facing Denmark Street. It's the height of desolation: ugly, neglected, everything ancient and depressing. I was able to access the "communal kitchen," but it wasn't very useful. There was nothing there, not even oil. I don't know if they think we're going to buy a bottle of oil for a two-day stay. There was a folding table with plates and cutlery in the room, but who's going to eat in a room that's over 40 degrees Celsius? They kindly lent me a fan, but it wasn't much of a relief. The problem with this room (number 6 at 131 Iffley Road) is that, for privacy reasons, neither of the windows can be fully opened. There's very little airflow, and the atmosphere is sweltering. On a positive note, I appreciated being able to bring my bicycle inside, but there was plenty of space, and letting me bring my bike in wasn't a problem for anyone. They boast a lot about self-check-in, but I think that a human being is far superior to all the robotic and digital systems. It's very sad to arrive at accommodation and find only a narrow, steep staircase with doors leading directly to the rooms, with no one there to greet you. I was able to get some questions answered via their WhatsApp number for customer service, but it's not the same. It obviously has the advantage of being relatively close to the center (23 minutes walk to Carfax Tower), but, when I've stayed at Central Backpackers, which is better located, I've been much more comfortable and paid almost half as much.

The room doesn’t look like as the booking app photos. It was so warm and the only window was closed by key. We were lucky one lady opened for us at 11pm. As my photos show this is how looks like the room. I do not recommend to stay here

Genuinely one of the worst places I have ever stayed. I tend not to leave reviews but for this place I felt it necessary to warn others. It is vastly overpriced. As others have indicated the rooms are tired at best. The bed was very uncomfortable. Walls are very thin so you hear everything that people in neighbouring rooms are doing. Never again.

Experience here was great. Room has everything you need and more. Process checking in and receiving the code was effecient. Located in a great place too, super easy to get too from the city centre, in a really nice area. Great service sending emails and messages for instructions. Thank you.

Good location that makes it easy to access Oxford. Rather basic rooms that are a bit cramped.

We stayed at Rasa Sayang for 1 night as I had a surgery with a follow-up appointment the next day. Upon arrival I checked for the self-check in code, and had not been sent one. I rang the helpline, and was informed they needed to verify my identity through an online form. Whilst I appreciate the need for security, this was not clearly flagged as an action one needed to take, and meant I was standing post surgery for 10 minutes waiting for verification. Also, when verifying, the page asks for your bank details. I had already paid online, but the form tried to charge me again, which meant I had to call the helpline once again to avoid paying a double charge. Upon entering the building, it was clear it needed a lot of redecoration work. Our room had damp on the ceiling and the bathroom had a very strange smell. The floors were filthy, and the toilet flush is inctedibly loud and obnoxious. The tv in the room did not work, and the lamp was all bashed in. For over £60 a night, I would expect the room to be at least clean. The walls are also incredibly thin, and we were woken up by other guests checking in very early in the morning - they were not being terribly loud, it was just the thin walls. Also, it seems we were expected to take out the bins upon checkout, and confirm our checkout via the Booking.com chat in order to avoid late fees. This information was sent via email at 8pm - if I had not been checking my emails, we would have almost certainly missed this. The room was barely better than a hostel, and the price should reflect that.
