About this place The Swallow

The Swallow, at 59-61 Bretonside on the edge of the Barbican, is Plymouth's long-running gay pub; CAMRA's local branch calls it the city's number one LGBT pub. The building has had several names since 1823, including Aristocrats in the 1980s, and has been The Swallow since 1990 apart from a short spell in 2012-13. It closed in November 2025 and reopened after a refit on 13 March 2026. It's a pub-and-club mix: pool (free on Wednesdays), darts, live music or a DJ on Fridays and Saturdays, a covered smoking area and drag nights such as Dragged to the Spotlight. Hours are 17:00 Tuesday to Thursday and from 15:30 Friday to Sunday; closed Mondays. Sappho's community cafe is next door.

Was extremely loud and made my tinnitus worse. Look after your ears guys and invest in some earplugs.

Been here for years and don't trust myself to walk in here alone, as long as I'm with someone I can walk in safely, I won't sey why I don't trust myself as that's personal. Other then that they do good live performance and drinks ain't expensive

Nice staff and great beer, people seems to come in groups so if you are there visiting it can feel lonely, but had a few beers there and it was nice with performance on stage
