Richmond Pride 2026
About This Event
Richmond Pride, every October, sets up on Brown's Island and the downtown riverfront. Think industrial-era James River: the canal walk, the hydroelectric plant, the Mayo Bridge in the background. It makes for one of the most striking Pride festival backdrops on the East Coast.
About 20,000 people show up. They come for a weekend of performances, community programming, and to celebrate a city whose LGBTQ+ community has become more visible, more confident, right alongside Richmond's own changing self-image.
October means good weather on the James. It also makes Richmond Pride one of the last big LGBTQ+ events of the East Coast season. Brown's Island, a flat pedestrian-bridge-accessed island, is a natural, self-contained festival spot. Water on all sides, downtown Richmond visible from the main stage.
Pride here has gotten bigger recently. The city's progressive streak has grown, and pulling down those Confederate monuments really did mark a new chapter for Richmond.
